Chris and younger brother Mike took the
World
Cup circuit by storm in 2005-06 when
they returned to the luge track after a
three-year hiatus. The sibling duo recorded
three consecutive op-eight finishes in doubles
competition and capped off the season with a
ninth-place finish at the 2006 Olympic Winter
Games. Chris, who worked as a coach with the
national junior squad during his three years
away from competition, brings a wealth of
experience to Canada’s national team. His
fifth-place doubles finish at the 2002 Olympic
Winter Games, attained with then doubles
partner Eric Pothier, was Canada’s best ever
Olympic luge result. He also garnered a
14th-place finish in men’s singles in 2002.
Chris is an enthusiast of many sports,
including football, baseball and basketball,
but lists rugby as his favourite sport other
than luge.

Along with older brother Chris, Mike returned
with a vengeance to international doubles
competition in 2005 after a three-year hiatus
from the luge track. The brothers posted three
consecutive top-eight finishes in their first
three races since 2002, and topped the season
off with a ninth-place showing at the 2006
Olympic Winter Games. Mike also competed
at the 2002 Olympic Winter Games in the
doubles discipline with former sliding partner
Grant Albrecht. A veteran of the sport since
age eight, Mike used his time away from the
luge track for education and continues to work
towards his Bachelor of Justice degree and
certification in Forensic Studies. Prior to
returning to sliding, he worked as a caseworker
in a Calgary halfway house and was a contract
officer with the Calgary Parole Board. Outside
of luge, Mike enjoys camping, golfing, mountain
biking and fly-fishing.
